Residents of the Memory Lodge at Eskaton Village Grass Valley go out to lunch each month. They call themselves the "Lunch Bunch".

Bob is the only man who goes, and as a gentleman he worries about who is going to pick up the check. "I make it special for him and say that us ladies are treating him to lunch," says Jerri Lynn Konner, activity coordinator.

In this photo Bob, is being clever and witty, and Katie, the Resident Care Assistant, is tickled pink and laughing hysterically. The two of them enjoy each other's company. Bob turns 97 in June, and Katie won't miss the party.

Bob and his wife, Kay, moved to Eskaton Grass Valley in October 2004. They first enjoyed independent living before moving to assisted living. "When Kay passed away a couple of years ago, Bob joined the Memory Lodge," says Jerri Lynn. "He is an amazing man who participates with a lot of our activities even though he has some limitations."
