Eskaton Village Grass Valley resident continues to show that despite being 90, life can be full of wonderful surprises. Standing at 6 feet 4 inches and considered a “gentle giant” most of his life, Zeke was told at age 64 that his heart was so bad he would not survive another 5 years. Well, survive and thrive he did, going on to defeat the odds another 26 years and counting.

Homeless Woman Finds Permanent Housing at Eskaton

Living on the streets and in homeless shelters is something that a senior citizen should never have to endure. Although Cynthia, 68, lived on the streets for over eight months, she didn't disconnect from her community and she never gave up hope. In spite of hardship, Cynthia became an amazing advocate for the homeless and instrumental in providing Eskaton with additional resources for seniors as she became aware of them herself.

Eskaton’s Tighe Hammam played baseball throughout his childhood years up through high school. His junior and senior year team went undefeated. He credits the success to their batting coach known as Coach Z. “Everyone on the team loved him,” said Tighe.
